Since Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has struggled for momentum. Wandavision started phase 4 relatively well, despite its sloping morality, followed by less enthusiastic efforts in Falcon, Loki, and Moon Knight. The latter borrowed elements from the legion.

The multiverse of Madness then uses a switch and bait to roll up people for the film Doctor Stranger, only for us to get Wandavision section 2. Finally, we have Ms. Marvel, a Tween drama at Disney+ which might be good with criticism, and criticism, but only manages to pocket 750,000 surprising viewers in the first 5 days, less than half of the MCU series watched the lowest on the platform, Hawkeye. It seems that Marvel’s sauce train has just started out on the railroad.

Love and Thunder then feel like a large lump on the road, a film that toys with some interesting ideas but continues to damage itself with silly jokes, bad characterization, and some truly confusing visuals. If you think the graphics on the Star Wars prequel look bad, you are above the rough building with this one.

The character regularly walks to the camera, taken from the front to disguise the fact that this is being filmed on the sound stage. The lighting for the front background character is strangely not sparkling, with some very terrible night scenes in this regard.

It’s nothing about the depth of the field that is almost visible like these characters have been copied and attached to the film through the background. This is like watching cartoons where the background of watercolor contrast with brighter front background items.

I tried not to be too geeky here because I was sure some people wouldn’t care. But considering that this film has a $ 250 million budget, the fact that so much of this looks cheap, to the sloping animation (including Valkyrie’s very bad scene jumping on his ship), it feels unforgivable.

The story itself is centered on Thor “Finding himself” … again. He was desperate to find his purpose … again. While simultaneously felt lost and not sure where his future was … again.

When the story begins, we get a large spoonful of exposition when Korg tells a story about Fat Thor back to its shape and struggles with the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, do not be too comfortable in this regard, The Guardian is inside this for about 10-15 minutes before Thor turned his attention to the final threat of the new world-Gorr The God Butcher.

Thanks to a neat small prologue and some pretty good character development, GORR is one of the elements that are better than this film – and of course competent antagonists. He is not near the best that has been issued by the MCU, but he is also not a complete joke like Mandarin in Iron Man III. The problem is GORR bets that are very pleasant and seriously damaged by the tone of this film, which hovers between funny and jammed comedy.

In essence, the main plot involves Thor in collaboration with Jane Foster alias. Mighty Thor (more about it in one minute), King Valkyrie, and Korg recruit several gods and fight back against Gorr The Butcher, who threatened to kill them all, with his motivation originating from simple revenge against the gods. The fate of the universe hangs in balance, complete with compulsory CGI monsters and big battles in the end.

It is all very cliché MCU at this time, and although there is no complete bait and switch with Thor and Mighty Thor, there are some decisions that are very scratching in this film about these characters. And once again, the questionable Marvel morality played a role.

Initially, we learn Jane Foster is a brilliant scientist and has “saved the world” on earth through her research. However, he was also paralyzed by cancer and undergoing chemo.

When he reads about Mjolnir and how it can give “stamina” and “good health”, he leaves, believing that the residuals of the broken Mjolnir call him.

So in his truly selfish ambition to extend his own life and better, he somehow becomes worthy to use Palu Thor. And that’s all, that’s all the explanation we got.

To be fair, there is a pleasant moment between Jane and Thor in the film that runs a little deeper but those who expect a more comprehensive and precise explanation of why Mjolnir chose it are left disappointed.

Weak character development is only hampered by jokes that, well, are the best-mixed bags. There is some laughter that is played but everything feels very stupid and ridiculous so that it denies trust. It also did not help that the time comedy regularly ruined the best of all films. Even late, during the last confrontation with GORR, jokes are traded regularly and completely cancel threats.

The joke itself is a mixture that is tired between figurative (haha, you need a mint’s breath!) For absurd humor that is unsuccessful. Want to see Thor riding a Stormbreaker like a broom? What about the characters that make big jokes before they die? These moments really destroy the similarity of the seriousness that can be used in this film, which is embarrassing because the pieces are there for emotionally interesting plots.

Another problem comes from the morality of the character mentioned above. This is something that Marvel has struggled and Thor: Love and Thunder only symbolize it further. Remember Wanda’s blood thirst mission to take revenge on those who have made the family’s mistakes? Want to kill anyone who stepped in a way just to be forgiven because he was always destined to “do what is right?”

Now, in love and thunder, the mission of the God Butcher Gorr will also take revenge on those who have made the family’s mistakes. He wants to make the gods pay … but he is a criminal out and out. Morality is definitely difficult for MCU writers!

Some of this may be easily ignored if Thor is a decent character but once again his personality is completely slaughtered here. Remember the scene in American Pie where Jim walked to Nadia, laughed awkwardly, and walked away? Yes, that’s basically Thor in this film.

He is mostly OAF; Jokes from the film itself (both figuratively and literally) and heroes who are confused. In fact, he spent more time emotionally getting involved with a hammer than him Jane Foster.

Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the comedy’s poisoning. Damn, some of the most serious films have succeeded in compensating with an angry joke at the right time. Unfortunately, Thor: Love and Thunder chose the wrong time to make jokes. And then coat jokes that are not appropriate with other jokes on them. All of this humor only serves to damage any threat that might be caused by GORR and eventually making ridicule Thor Odinson, which has less arc than Jane Foster, who – with Gorr – maybe one – one who has something that resembles a good character of a bow.

Thor: Love and Thunder is not the worst Marvel film released, but of course, it is one of the weakest; A heavy green-green screen monster and failed to get the same jokes repeatedly. In the end, the only joke here is love and thunder.
