LOS ANGELES, US – Hollywood actress Anne Heche is still being treated in a hospital in critical condition, coma, and connected to a breathing machine on Monday, August 8, four days after suffering a severe injury in a fiery Los Angeles accident, an interpreter talks to the perpetrators said.

Heche, 53, has been treated in the hospital since shortly after the compact car he was driving out of control in the Westside environment in Los Angeles Friday morning, was hijacked to a house, and caught fire, according to the police.

There was no one inside the injured house, but the impact was burning a place to live, which needed a response from dozens of firefighters.

A spokesman for the Police Department Los Angeles said on Monday the cause and the condition of the accident was still under investigation.

Heche is in a coma and has not regained awareness since shortly after the accident, said Michael McConnell, a member of the Los Angeles talent management company representing him, zero gravity management.

“At this time, he is in extremely critical condition,” he told Reuters in a text message, adding that Heche “has a significant lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”

The Los Angeles Times quoted the owner of Venice Beach salon, Richard Glass, who told of Heche’s visit to his shop just before the accident, describing it as “a sweet little girl” when he bought a red wig on Friday morning.

Heche became famous for his work that won an Emmy in another daytime television drama and then starred in the role of other screens including the HBO Hung series and films such as Wag The Dog and Cedar Rapids.

He became the headlines of the tabloid in the late 1990s for infidelity with comedian Ellen Degeneres around Degeneres time out openly as a lesbian. After their separation, Heche Wed Cameman Laffoon, but they then divorced, and he spent a few years after that in a relationship with actor James Tupper, his co-star on a short-lived TV show Men in Trees. – Rappler.com
